JOB TITLE: Truck Body Prep Technician

DEPARTMENT: Fabrication

REPORTS TO: Paint Supervisor

CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt

JOB DESCRIPTION:

A. Purpose and Scope:

Prepare truck bodies for the paint process and installing tool boxes and trim.

B. Specific Tasks for Position

• Prepare surfaces to be coated by using various methods (abrasive blasting and sanding, high pressure water washing, or power wire brushing) to remove grease, dirt, and rust.

• Move items to drying areas and unload them for further painting or packaging using forklift.

• Application of seam sealers.

• Application of body filler and doing body work on truck beds.

• Masking of truck bodies and truck trailers.

• Ensure work area is cleaned and orderly daily.

• Other duties as assigned.

C. Job Requirements

Education and Training: Prefer 2 years of trade school or other higher education training.

Experience: 1 year Auto body work preferred.

D. Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The employee works near moving mechanical parts, welding areas, and other heavy machinery. The factory experiences significant swings in temperatures from cold to hot depending on time of year. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately loud.
